The best gift I could make!

The best gift I could make!

My mum is hard to please. That’s why finding a present for her is always a problem. Her birthday is in winter, when everybody suffers from the lack of energy and sunlight. So initially I was looking for something bright and warm. I made a list of possible gifts which included a pocket lantern, orange bed linen, a hand knitted scarf and other banalities. The idea of purchasing a canvas came spontaneously. I saw a nice advertisement and clicked on it. I was redirected to the official online gallery of Leonid Afremov where I found hundreds of splendid paintings. I thought they would perfectly fit into our living-room. Plus, the color palette of the majority of Leonid’s works is so vivid and inspiring that I’d compare its positive effect on people with vitamins! We get vitamin D from the sources of light that the artist often depicts on his oil canvases. I’ve also noticed that Afremov likes the rainy theme. However, none of his pieces of art plunges a viewer into gloom:

  • To the contrary, his multicolored rain symbolizes renewal and joy, both for nature and people.
  • It accompanies couples in love and creates a romantic atmosphere.
  • Leonid proves that it’s a welcome guest even at the wedding!

Another theme that appeals to me is animals and pets. The painter has a good sense of humor because he portrayals cats who sing and play the guitar. The most unexpected for me was a cat dressed as a real doctor!:D Unfortunately, my mum’s allergic to pets and the slightest mentioning about them makes her sneeze. So this genre was the first to exclude from the list. Finally, I made my choice in favor of a landscape. A combination of blue and golden colors in it blew my socks off!

What’s great about Afremov’s site afremov.com is that you can ‘try on’ a painting in a room before purchasing it. When I was using this option, I changed the color of the walls to green (as in our living-room). I was satisfied with the final result and nothing could stop me from ordering the artist’s work. I could hardly wait till my mum’s birthday. When the X-Day came and I gave her the present, she was overwhelmed with happiness!

Afremov doesn’t practice deception on his customers. So if you want to amaze someone you love, buy him a charming piece of art by Leonid without hesitation! In his gallery there are canvases for people of different tastes and ages. No doubt, your gift will produce an ever-lasting impression on everyone!

Old people and technology

Old people and technology

It’s not easy to drive me out of my wits. But my parents are experts in this field. I hate when they ask me to help them with a computer or Internet. They make no progress and the situation looks exactly as in this video by a French blogger Cyprien: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFpKj3JbORs. If you don’t speak the language, turn on the subtitles and enjoy. Sometimes you won’t need a translation – his face expression tells a lot! I like Cyprien’s video cause it’s 100% true. When my mum types, it really takes her 5 minutes to write one word! And once, when I told her to open the window (of the browser), she understood it literally – stood up and went straight to the window-sill. God, save my nerves!

Also, I’d award the title ‘Hopeless at using modern gadgets’ to our grandparents. Cyprien’s grandpa bought a mobile two years ago but when it rings, he doesn’t know how to answer it. Speaking about my granny, she forgets to lock the screen and sends blank messages to all the contacts in her phone. At first, we didn’t pay attention. But then she started sending pre-edited SOS-messages… She scared lots of people.

The generation of our parents could do without a mobile 50 years ago. And they still can live without it. We mock at them, though maybe in future we’ll look ridiculous for our children too?

My vocation

My vocation

People think if you’re an actress, there’s no getting rid of men. It’s not my case though. My name’s Grace and my appearance is rather ordinary. I usually play comic roles, so to make the viewers laugh is my duty. Funny moments happen when I forget the text and automatically continue my train of thought, pretending it’s in the script. Or when my colleague can’t help giggling and does it each time I open my mouth to start a phrase. And then the whole film crew shouts with laughter! I love working in a team for the sake of a common goal. Probably, that’s the reason why I go in for volleyball. I’m also interested in art but I don’t paint well. I guess one is born with artistic skills. I was born to become an actress!
